FDA Caution Ghanaians Against Use Of Ascot Diet Weight Loss

FDA

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned the public against patronising Ascot diet weight loss and other medicinal products which are not registered by the Authority.

The FDA in a statement said injections, appetite suppressants and the meal plan for weight loss known as the Ascot diet have not been registered.

It warns that the use of such products could cause severe allergic reactions like itching, shortness of breath, swelling of the tongue, throat or mouth, stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness or faintness.

The statement reminds importers of such weight loss products to note that sections 99 and 118 of the Public Health Act 2012, Act 851 prohibit the importation and sale of unregistered products.

Offenders will therefore be severely sanctioned when found.

The FDA encourages the public to cooperate with the Authority and report the presence of any unregistered product for the necessary action to be taken.
