Eye

World Sight Day is annually observed across the world on the 13th of October to raise awareness among people regarding eye health and to recognize the work done by thousands of optometrists across the world to fix the problem of vision impairment.

World sight day is also known as World Eye day or World Vision day.

The theme for this year’s day is ‘Love your eyes’.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Macall Mensah on Mid-Morning Lounge on the topic of the Importance of Eye Care, an optometrist with Uretope Optical and vision centre, Dr Robert Kwabena Boateng is urging Ghanaians to refrain from utilizing folk methods of treatment, which includes the usage of breast milk, seawater and others on the eyes.

According to him, every eye must be thoroughly examined before receiving any medication.

He also called on Ghanaians to regularly screen their eyes to detect eye problems at their early stage and advised against self-medicating and purchasing eyeglasses from unlicensed eye specialists.
