Assembly Man of Nkotompo in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Area, Anthony Ephraim says access to potable water in the community is a problem for the people.
According to him, the pipeline to the community was affected during the construction of the rail lines some four years ago.
Mr Ephraim says the community relies on a reservoir as water does not flow in the main lines, thus residents have to walk to Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital (ENRH) and its environs in search of water.
He is appealing to authorities to intervene in the situation.
“The main lines through which water flows for supplies were changed during the construction of the rail lines. Water has since not been flowing close to four years now. We rely on the water reservoir for water supply. It serves us only three days a week.
One side of the community is served leaving the other side as it take turns.
We plead that the reservoir continues to supply the whole community with water as we wait for the situation to be fixed.
During the mornings, people fight over well water. Some also go as far as Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital to fetch water, and this doesn’t sit well with the management of the hospital.
Authorities should help us overcome this challenge,” He said.
