Twin City Special School Holds National Special Olympics In Sekondi
This year’s Special Olympics Ghana is being hosted by the Twin City Special School in Sekondi.
The event is held in Ghana once a year for individuals with developmental disabilities to undertake sporting activities in the field of soccer, athletics and amongst others.
It is however the first held in the Western Region under the theme; “Celebrating The Child With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities Through Sport.”
This offers pupils the platform where the best team is selected to represent Ghana at the international games.
The Head Mistress of Twin City Special School, Mrs Crescentia Efua Bilson-Sai in her speech expressed optimism that the objective of the event will be achieved.
The Metro Education Director, Madam Sally Coleman being the Chairperson for the event called for a free and fair event, and charged authorities of the school to work hard and improve on the laurels achieved for the dream of the Ghanaian child.
For her part, Chief, Communication and Advocacy of UNICEF, Eulette Ewart, observed that there is potential in every child, and that her outfit has keen interest in helping to realising them.
