Ghana Red Cross Society Deploy Volunteers Ahead Of Tomorrow’s Polio Vaccination

The Western Regional branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society has deployed about 80 volunteers across the region in support of the 2nd phase of the 2022 Polio Vaccination campaign.

Mr. Benjamin Acquah, the Western Regional Manager for Ghana Red Cross Society speaking to the media explained that, the volunteers will conduct door to door visit to mobilise household with children under five years for the polio vaccination.

Furthermore, Mr. Acquah added that each volunteer ahead of tomorrow’s polio vaccination is expected to reach about 150 household.

He made this known when the Western Regional branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society organized community durbar in some selected communities ahead Polio Vaccination campaign schedule on Thursday 6, October to Sunday 9, October 2022.

The Polio Vaccination campaign was held at “Ngyiresia”, a fishing community in the Essikado-Ketan Sub-Metro where about 70 parents including breastfeeding mothers attended.

Addressing the parents, Mr. Benjamin Acquah emphasized on the need for all mothers to get their children under 5 years to be vaccinated.

He added that, the Western Regional branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society involvement in the 2022 Polio Vaccination campaign was to support to Ghana Health Service in achieving its aim on Polio Vaccination.

Meanwhile, Ghana Health Service representatives {nurse} at the Western Regional Ghana Red Cross Society’s durbar at Ngyiresia, Mrs. Janet Cudjoe and Madam Priscilla Kwatemaa used the opportunity and educated the mother’s present on the importance of Polio, Personal Hygiene and Child Health Routine.

Nevertheless, the Regional Manager, acknowledged the support from International Federation of Red Cross, Red Crescent and Coca-Cola.

Moreover, Mr Benjamin Acquah the Western Regional Manager for Ghana Red Cross Society speaking to the media emphasized the need for all mothers to get their children under 5 years to be vaccinated.

On the Polio Vaccination campaign by Western Regional branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society at Ngyiresia, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metro Chairman, Mr. Dominic Bentum led Ten Red Cross volunteers and took part in the mobilization of parents to the durbar grounds as they created awareness on the 2nd phase of the Polio Vaccination campaign.
