W/R: Drivers Urged To Prioritize Their Health
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) in the Western Region is urging all drivers in the region to prioritize their health as part of ensuring safety on our roads .
According to available statistics, over ninety per cent of road crashes are humanly related, it is therefore important that drivers always check their health status very often.
Speaking at a day’s sensitization program for drivers at the Kwesimintsim station organised by the Fiifi Buckman Foundation, Regional Director for the National Road Safety Authority, Nana Akua Ansaah underscored how such health checks need to be carried out and their attendant importance.
” The ultimate cause of road crashes are human error, no driver would just wake up crash another vehicle. If the driver is not physically well, crashes can occur. We believe that when we touch more on the health aspect, they will take good care of themselves. Most of the drivers won’t check their health so we are using this exercise as a reminder to tell them to take care of their health,” She said.
Meanwhile private legal practitioner lawyer Fiifi Buckman who was the convener for the program outlined the purpose for putting such an engagement together.
“Drivers are the most important persons on our roads. If a driver makes a mistake, it affects families, generations etc. In this day, where, we are celebrating Nkrumah’s day, we decided to engage them to be good road users,” Fifii mentioned.
Some drivers who were present shared some of the benefits they have derived from the engagement.
“This exercise is good for us and we ask that they should make it a regular thing. We are proposing that it is organised prior to the Christmas season”
” I call on all drivers to abide by whatever education they have give us today because it is for our own good that they have shared this with us.”
