Highway Robbery On The Rise At Beposo Due To Malfunctioning Streetlights
The Assembly member for Beposo Electoral Area, a community in the Shama District here in the Western Region, Hon Isaac Boakye Adani is urging district authorities to as a matter of urgency mounts security posts and streetlights in the Beposo highway.
This according to him, has increased visibility for criminal activity along the roadway because fuel from parked heavy-duty vehicles are stolen.
He added that, defective streetlight has been long-standing for years.
He is therefore imploring city authorities to fix the default streetlights along the stretch.
“The happenings In Beposo and it’s environment is very disgraceful these days. Theft cases are on the rise here. Heavy duty trucks cannot park at night by the roadside because their fuels are always stolen from their tanks by some youths in the community.
Recently, Goil filling station’s truck was a victim. Beposo road is not safe for drivers to park. We plead with the Regional Minister and District assembly to provide us with streetlight bulbs to replace the malfunctioning ones as we are aware criminals operate in darkness,” He said.
He is also pleading with the National Petroleum Authority and the Ghana Police to shut down illegal filling stations as they purchase the stolen fuels.
“We plead with the National Petroleum Authority and the police to sanction illegal fuel station operators as the stolen fuels are sold to these illegal buyers at cheap price,” The Assembly Man stressed.
