HEAD OF MORTUARY UNIT AT THE EFFIA NKWANTA REGIONAL HOSPITAL EMBEZZLES ¢77,060.00 MORTUARY FEES- 2021 AUDITOR GENERAL’S REPORT

The Head of Mortuary unit at the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital, Sekondi has raked in about Gh¢ 77,060.00 mortuary fees according to the 2021 auditor general’s report in the Western Region.

Contrary to Section 7 of Public Financial Management Act, 2016, (Act 921) it reveals that, Stephen Bartels, head of the the mortuary unit could not account for the mortuary fees from June 2019 -July 2020.

He was unable to account for the 554 deceased bodies’ revenues , which throughout that time period came to around Gh 77,060.00. According to the report from the auditor general for 2021, the aforementioned lost revenue would be recovered from the offender.
