DCE Calls For Private Investigations Over Missing Excavators, As Police Refutes Claims Of Taking Custody Of Excavators

Ghana Police Service has rejected claims that it took custody of some missing excavators in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

This follows a report on Friday, September 2 by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Kwesi Bonzo that two excavators that were in their custody are nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the Service, and signed by the Western Regional Public Affairs Officer, Superintendent Olivia Adiku on September 2, the Police claims no excavators were handed over to them by the DCE.

They, however, assured the public that any person implicated in the cause of the investigations will be taken through due process of the law.

The statement also indicates that the DCE , his aide and another person are being investigated over the missing equipment.

DCE Kwesi Bonzo has been speaking to the media on the issue.

“The Police has something to hide and we need to find out. We cannot rely on the Police to do this investigation because they themselves are an interested party. They brought two Policemen here to watch over the excavators for four hours,” He said.

Mr Bonzo reiterated that, he never said, the excavators were in the custody of the Police but maintained that the excavators were in their care.
