Director of Research and Communication at the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) Dr Kofi Obutey says the Commission is embarking on a nationwide complaint session to address consumer concerns following an increase in utility tariffs.
He says the program which has already started in the Ashanti region is also geared toward consumer sensitization.
Speaking to the media, Dr Obutey asked consumers who have concerns over utilities to visit the offices of PURC for redress.
“We are having a compliant clinic in Kumasi and we intend to do this across the country engaging the entire consumers of electricity and water. We want to educate them as well on the new tariffs that we have come across. We have something called the ‘Reckoner’ which tells you the amount you pay based on what you consumed,” He said.
He stated that they are doing everything possible to make people understand the new tariffs.
