3 Persons Arrested For Fishing With Dynamite At Cape Three Points

Three young persons have been arrested by the Fisheries Enforcement Unit (FEU) in the Western Region for using dynamite for fishing.

The culprits are Richard Krangyen, 31, Thomas Kobe, 29 from Akwidae in Dixcove, and Nathaniel Essien 17 from Akwadae all in the Ahanta West.

The FEU and local fishermen collaborated on this initiative, which resulted in the capture of the sea’s illicit fishing offenders.

According to Assistant Regional Manager Andrew Omari Agyekum, who gave a press conference in Takoradi, the fishermen were aware that using dynamite for fishing is prohibited.

So, he advised fishermen to avoid illegal, unreported, unregulated (IUU) fishing violations because they would be dealt with by the law when they were discovered.

The FEU has been charged with making these criminals accountable as part of efforts to address illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in Ghana’s maritime seas.
