NABCO Trainees Express Uncertainty About Being Recruited Into The YouStart Program

Some Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) trainees in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis say, they will not join the You Start and the digital inclusion programmes the government has proposed.

According to them until the government pays them, their 10 months allowances, they will not go through another process to be recruited for another programme.

On August 18, 2022, some beneficiaries staged a demonstration on the street of Accra demanding the payment of their 10 monthly allowances.

The petition was received by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Adu Bossman on behalf of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Some trainees in an interview with Beach Newsroom, reveal that based on the stress they have still not decided on whether to get recruited to the You Start programme or not.

“We are urging the Vice President to pay us our 10 months salary because it has not been easy for us. How do we fend for ourselves and families? When the monies are paid, we would use it to pay our debts”

“I believe that the government would fix the situation sooner for NABCO personnel. The issue of the unpaid 10 months allowance is even more worrisome for us. How do you expect us to go to work without money? I take two cars to the workplace, and it is unbearable. I’m still on the fence with regards to the YouStart programme.”
