Director General of the Social Security And National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. George Ofori Tenkorang has reminded members that the Trust is only one piece of the whole pension puzzle.
Speaking at an event organised in partnership with Trade Union’s Congress (TUC) dubbed; Understanding the value of proposition of SSNIT: The role of organised labour as partners in promoting the scheme amongst workers in Ghana.
Mr Tenkorang indicated that in order to have a better deal for workers at the end of day, labour should negotiate salaries or emoluments with pension in mind.
He says, relying solely on the pension from the Trust would not be enough to give a worker a happy retirement.
Dr. Ofori Tenkorang was speaking at an educational program for members of the TUC.
Touching on the interface with its public, Dr Ofori Tenkorang emphasised that SSNIT has up its game in service delivery.
He is therefore advising workers to take advantage of state-investment schemes like Tiers 2 and 3 in addition to provident funds by various companies as well as other investments to cushion themselves during retirement.
