Nzema Maanle Council Supports Labianca Chief Executive Officer

The Seven Paramouncies of the Nzema Maanle Council in the Western Region have backed Madam Eunice Jaqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, the Labianca Company Limited CEO.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor(OSP) ordered Labianca Company to pay GH1.074 Million in respect to violations related the importation of foreign foods after conducting an inquiry.

The 7 Nzema Maanle Paramount Chiefs—Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III, Awulae Attibrukusu II, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, Awulae Annor Adjaye III, Awulae Angama Tu Agyan II, Nana Nyamekye III, and Nana Atta Kabenla IV—as well as numerous sub-chiefs added their voice to recent public conversation on the duty discount granted to Labianca Company Limited.

They claim that they are fighting for honest and open business practices among all companies, particularly those run by women and Western Region natives.

Speaking to the chiefs and the media, the former president of the NzemaMaanle Council, Awulae Angama Tu Agyan II, stated that they are troubled by the misguided attempt to impose a conflict of interest label based on Madam Asomah-reelection Hinneh’s as the Western Regional representative on the Council of State.

After reviewing the Office of the Special Prosecutor report, Awulae Angama Tu Agyan II stated, “We have noted that the office gave no proof pointing to influence peddling, which is the use of position or political influence on someone’s behalf in exchange for money or favors.

The Member – Omanhene of Gwira Traditional Area, Awulae Angama Tu Agyan II stated that the OSP assumption of Madam Eunice Jaqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh is based on an uninformed view of the Independence of the two professionally run Institutions as established by law.

Furthermore, the NzemaMaanle Traditional Rulers are of the view that the Office of the Special Prosecutor and others will be guided by the evidence before making some submissions.

The NzemaMaanle Council noting a serious concern is encouraging groups and individuals who are pushing for the resignation of Madam Asomah-Hinneh from the Council of State to avoid such premature commentary.

“The basis for the resignation is the perceived peddling of influence or conflict of interest.
