Ex-President Mahama Calls On Government To FastTrack Compensation For Victims of Appiatse Explosion
Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on President Nana Akuffo Addo and the state to seek compensation for the victims of the Appiatse Explosion.
He believes the task and quest for compensation should be the responsibility of the state instead of the victims.
President Mahama yesterday visited the victims for the first time since the incident to commiserate with them.
The victims said they are going through a lot of difficulties in their desire to seek compensation.
The former President in response said, it will rather be ideal for the state to seek compensation for the victims.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Prestea Huni Valley, Dr Isaac Dasmani also briefed the former President on the current state of affairs six of the victims are battling for their lives.
Member of Parliament for Prestea -Huni Valley, Wisdom Cudjoe appealed for more support for the Appiatse Relief Committee to help deal with the immediate needs.
The Former President donated 500 bags of rice, 100 boxes of tin tomatoes, 100 boxes of canned fish, 100 mattresses, and cash of 5,000 to the Relief Committee.
