The President of Hoteliers Association of Ghana, Dr Edward Ackah Nyamike has mentioned that the increment of water and energy rates will have a negative impact on the hotel industry.
In an interview with the media, Dr. Nyamike cautioned that there is the need to look at how to manage cost of businesses and reduce the consumptions of these utilities to avoid another increment of rates at hotels.
Klenz Tsonam Akpeloo with the Association Ghana Industries (AGI) said the timing of the increase in utilities is a problem, and will affect the cost of doing business.
The announcement of the new tariffs have received several backlash from Ghanaians especially when the country is going through economic challenges.
Some residents in the Sekondi-Takoradi seemed to agree with the increment in tariffs.
Speaking to some of people, they shared diverse views saying it is untimely for the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to review tariffs.
