W/R: Our Operations Are Scrutinized By FDA And GSA – Sachet Water Producers

The Western Regional Organiser of Sachet Water Producers Association, Peter Vormawor has said drinking water are produced under safe and hygienic water conditions for the consumption of its customers.

He said, their activities are vigorously monitored by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) as well as the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) to ensure that water sold in the markets is safe and meets the standard quality for public consumption.

In an interview with Spice 91.9 FM, he mentioned that water used to produce sachet and bottled water passes through various levels of distillation before sending them onto the market for sale.

Mr Vormawor further noted that their sources of water used for production are rather derived from drilled boreholes which do not contain impurities as revealed in the report of the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

“We don’t accept the reports that sachet water contains faecal matter because our operations are vetted by the FDA as well as GSA. Every six months, samples of the water are taken to their labs for screening to make sure water for public consumption is clean. We don’t know the method GSS used to arrive at such a report. It’s rather unfortunate,” He said.
