The Brukina Business is still booming here in the western Region despite the research done by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research at the University of Ghana which said that some samples of ‘brukina’ which is the millet and dairy milk used to prepare the drink contains unacceptable levels of aflatoxins that can cause cancer after continuous intake.
Brukina,Popularly known as “Degeeh” is a locally-produced millet-based fermented milk product that is consumed as a beverage here in Ghana.
Speaking to Business Daily some producers of Brukina in the Metropolis, disclosed that the research has for some reason not affected their business.
According to them, their business is booming and is getting more orders even after the research conducted by the institute.
They added that they produce theirs under healthy conditions and customers have been patronizing their business even after the result of the beverage being cancerous.
