Chief of Dompim Pepesa Calls On GES To Intensify Monitoring In Schools

Chief of Dompim Pepesa, a community in the Tarkwa- Nsuaem Municipality, Ohyeawora Bian Nyonwa Panyin IV has implored the Ghana Education Sevice (GES), to intensify supervision and monitoring in schools to ensure proper teaching and learning.

His statements come against the backdrop of the recent increase in social vices amongst the youth in the country.

The Chief said, too much exposure to some social media content contributes to poor behaviors as these content have a negative influence on the youth.

“The advancement in technology is one of the major causes of social vices witnessed within societies across the country. We’ve exposed our wards to things meant for adults. They end up practicing and these lead to the social vices we see today. Also, parents should take the pain to know the exact schools they enroll their wards into.

The Ghana Education Service has the task of touring private schools to know the kind of teachers enrolled on these schools as well.

The focus seems to be mostly on the government schools,” He said.

He adds that such contents uploaded onto the internet are not suitable for the consumption of young people.

He proposed for a counselling unit to be set up in various communities to help shape young people to become responsible in societies.

“We should begin to build counselling units in our communities to help in nurturing the youth. At least, 80 per cent of them will grow to become great personalities to help in the growth of the communities,” He mentioned.

He also advised parents and guardians to portray good habits and serve as examples to their wards which can go a long way to have an impact on them.
