On Election Day Ghana Card Won’t Be Needed – Dr Serebour Quaicoe
According to the Director of Electoral Services of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Dr Serebour Quaicoe, one does not require a Ghana card to cast a ballot in the 2024 elections.
The Ghana Card will be a requirement for voting in the 2024 election, according to an interview with the EC’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare.
However, Dr. Serebour has clarified that voter IDs will still be issued because they still allow people to be assigned to specific polling places, unlike the Ghana Card, which is only an identification card.
This implies that in order to get a voter ID or be allowed to cast a ballot in the 2024 elections, one might need the Ghana card on registration day.
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has stated that the ongoing Ghana card registration will be brought closer to Ghanaians in homes and heavily populated locations.
The Authority claims that this is a part of attempts to register a sizable portion of the population for the Ghana Card.
