W/R: NIA District Offices To Start Card Replacement On Monday
The National Identification Authority (NIA) is set to begin the replacement and issuance of Ghana cards in all district offices across the region, on Monday, August 8, 2022.
This was disclosed in an interview with the Regional Director of the Authority, Ben Sackey Enoch on Spice 91.9 FM in a bid to address concerns about acquiring a Ghana Card and other related issues.
He said applicants who have registered for their Ghana card and haven’t received it can go to the district offices dotted across the region for collection.
Mr Sackey Enoch in his submission said the NIA district offices are more than the administrative district because they are mandated to serve the needs of the public.
“The law mandates us to establish district offices to serve the people with ease. Our offices in the Western Region outnumber that of administrative districts,” He said.
According to him, the Sekondi district offices can be located in the Essikado, Sekondi and Takoradi of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) whilst that of Effia – Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) can be found in Kwesimintsim and Effia respectively.
This move according to him is to lessen the burden of citizens in accessing services of the Authority.
Mr Sackey Enoch further mentioned the intention of the Authority to enrol first-time applicants to get their Ghana cards, and added that there won’t be deadlines for the registration.
“We look forward to registering people who did not have the opportunity to register to get enrolled on the program. There’s no deadline to this exercise because we now have a permanent office which operates from Mondays to Fridays.”
He urged citizens who haven’t registered to visit the nearest NIA offices to get registered.
Meanwhile, those who have not received their cards can also visit district offices for collection.
However, persons who have had their Ghana cards damaged, defaced or burnt can get to replace their cards by paying a sum of GHc 30.00 to get a new card.
He cautioned the public not to pay monies to any NIA officer but can pay via *771# to obtain a special serial number to be able to get a replacement.
