ECG Set Up Taskforce To Clamp Down On Power Theft
The Electricity Company of Ghana, ECG will from today August 1 commence a meter auditing exercise dubbed ‘ The Visibility ‘is part of an effort to clamp down on power theft and recover losses in the system.
To this extent, a task force has been set up to arrest and prosecute persons engaged in any form of illegality.
Managing Director of ECG Samuel Mahama made this known to the media that the task force would among others checked the reading of meters and distribution transformers.
He said the exercise would not waned but would be sustained to recover losses and advised customers to desist from preventing the task force from entering their homes.
ECG on June 7, 2022, issued a month moratorium to power consumers to voluntarily report all faulty meters, illegal connections and other challenges for redress.
Customers who failed to take advantage of the grace period would be disconnected.
