The Ghana Gas Company said, it is particular about environmental safety and its impact on people in its operational area. It is therefore not true that its operations are having a negative environmental and human impact.
Speaking to the media in Accra, the Corporate Communications Manager of Ghana Gas Company, Ernest Owusu Bempah said, Ghana Gas has placed stringent environmental measures which the company follows religiously, as a result, the company recently received an international award for being environmentally responsible.
He said the environmental protection agency also conducts a periodic environmental inspection of its activities at Atoabo and its environs.
Mr Owusu Bempah was reacting to some allegations by some groups and individuals in and around Atuabo that the operations of the company have made them impotent and infertile.
He said the chief of Atuabo is a board member of Ghana Gas Company and wondered if the chief would even allow the operations of the company to desecrate the environment.
