Some residents of Effia a community in the Effia-Kwesimintsin Municipality have expressed worry over how the area floods each time there is the slightest down pour which affects properties and businesses.
According to them the uncovered drain has highly exposed all manner of solid and liquid waste into them.
This inevitably causes the drains to choke and make it almost impossible for the liquid waste to pass through the drains unrestricted producing pungent Odour and also causing nuisance to the public
Speaking to Beach Newsroom , the residents disclosed that several complaints directed at the various city authorities including the Effia-Kwesimintsin Municipal Assembly have yielded no results.
They are therefore pleading with the authorities to come to their aid immediately before any calamity occurs.
“Our major challenge in Effia is floods. Our gutters are choked. There is flood anytime it rains. Our city authorises should do something about it especially EKMA.
The community is muddy during rainy days. You can’t come out of your room when it rains. EKMA said they have distilled the gutters but we’re still battling with floods.
Residents of Effia have used the gutters as their dumping sites. This causes floods when it rains.”
