Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has embarked on a Regional Stakeholder engagement to educate stakeholders today about the SSNIT Pension Scheme.
This follows the recent calls by the TUC for an increase in workers pension benefit due to increase in cost of living in the country.
Speaking in a stakeholders Conference at the SSNIT Auditorium, Deputy Secretary General Joshua Ansah of TUC raised series of concerns for the SSNIT’s leadership to address.
Addressing the concerns of the TUC, Dr. John Ofori Tekorang explained that workers retirement benefit is calculated based on their SSNIT contributions, therefore the higher you earn the higher your retirement benefit.
He further assured that factoring of cost of living into the pension Scheme has been a normal practice every year therefore stakeholders should be rest assured that the current cost of living would be considered.
