Public Urged To Debunk News Of Possible Transport Fares

The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council ,(GRTCC) has asked the public to disregard speculation of a transport fare increment from July 18 2022.

The GRTCC said the people behind the announcements of the hikes in transport fares are unidentifiable groups

The General Secretary of the GRTCC Emmanuel Ohene Yeboah says only the GPRTU and the GRTCC have the rights negotiate transport fares.

“There are some group of groupings who have other interest other than the transport operation, so these people cannot be identified because they have other stations which doesn’t represent the actual transport operators.

The GPRTU and GRTCC commands over 98 per cent of the total operations in Ghana, so 1 per cent of the grouping cannot determine increase of transport fares,” he said.

He spoke on whether there are plans to increase fares.

” Since the last increase in May, we don’t see any justification to increase transport fares again after a month. We are monitoring the trend, when its get to a point we would increase it,” Ohene Yeboah added.
