The Western Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools has reiterated that private schools contribute their part to the development of the country’s economy.
According to the Chairman, private schools create employment avenues for graduates to impact knowledge in young children.
Mr Mintaba further recounts some challenges private schools face in discharging their duties.
He mentions the cost of feeding and transportation as the major setbacks in operating a private school.
“Private schools now employ professionals with requisite skills to impart knowledge to children. We have moved from employing school leavers because we want to maintain a certain standard. There are some communities in the Municipality where there are no public schools but only private schools that serve the educational needs of residents. Private schools contribute to the Internally-Generated Funds of the Assembly.
Private schools are faced with challenges in terms of feeding and transportation. As I talk to you, some school buses have been grounded due to financial circumstances,” He said.
He reckons that private schools perform well in basic exams over the years because they have learning resources like laboratories and proper learning systems which makes them excel in second-cycle institutions.
“Private schools have laboratories to help students with teaching and learning. These resources aid them to excel in their final exams as well,” He noted.
