EKMA : 160 Buildings Marked For Demolition – Physical Planning Department

About 160 buildings have been marked for demolition within the Effia Kwesimintism Municipal Assembly (EKMA).

This move, according to the Assembly is in line with the President’s directive charging MMDAs to remove illegal structures established on water ways to curb perennial flooding across the country.

Head of Physical Planning Department at EKMA, James Appau said his outfit is set to pull down illegal buildings sited in the Metropolis.

He made it known in an interview with Spice FM as he spelt out plans to carry out the activities.

He mentioned that some of the marked buildings have become death traps, and have instructed owners of such buildings to pull down the structures.

According to him, the Assembly is bent on ensuring proper building plan to avoid floods moving forward.

In recent times, there has been incessant floods causing people to lose, properties, lives and amongst other valuables.

It is on this note that President Nana Addo ordered the various Municipal, Metropolitan, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to pull down all illegal structures on waterways to reduce floods during rainy seasons.

Mr Appau lamented over the inadequate numbers of staff which often makes the work tedious.
