CalBank has designed a special purpose financing programme to enable Ghana seize the opportunities of going green.
This innovative program is part of a worldwide initiative developed by AFD to mobilise public and private banks to finance private sector investments involving green technologies and sustainable energy.
In addition, the EU is supporting the program by financing the technical assistance component as well as providing an investment grant to eligible projects.
In line with this the Cal Bank Business Clinic a Program to equip SMEs and Corporate Businesses with the requisite knowledge to drive eco-conscious regime using renewable resources for value and sustenance of their business operations and explore the benefits of processing tax and statutory payments through the Ghana. Gov platform was held at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel yesterday.
Speaking exclusively to Business Daily the Group head for Consumer and retail banking at Cal Bank Mr Peter Fordjour disclosed that this Clinic was to bring together a host of SMEs and Corporates to engage in a healthy discourse geared towards driving growth and value for businesses in the Sekondi – Takoradi metropolis and also to facilitate access to affordable sustainable energy to allow companies and households to acquire higher quality equipment, make cost savings and become more competitive by managing energy more efficiently, while respecting the environment.
” This clinic help us come together with our customers and non- customers to find solutions to their problems. The customers have exceeded our expectations and one of the anchored product we discussed today was the green financing, as a bank, its extremely important for everyone and businesses. We are happy to share that as most customers appear happy to know this, and maybe they may come forward to support this agenda,” Mr Fordjour said.
He also spoke of the Banks commitments to finance women owned businesses known as women Banking which seeks to provide women with the needed opportunities to succeed.
” We have a unit called women’s banking and their duty is to support women-owned businesses in Ghana. They go out into the market to do outreaches to engage the market women. They are educated on financial literacy, how to use simple digital products, so the women are not left out, ” he added.
