Linares Deportivo goalkeeper, Razak Brimah, has stated his readiness to wear the national colours once again after his long absence.
The 35-year-old shot stopper made his debut for the Black Stars in 2013 and was a key figure in their run to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final.
He has not played for the team since 2017 after releasing a video on Facebook which was perceived as disrespectful towards Ghanaians.
Razak Brimah has expressed his readiness to return to the national team and apologised for the incident.
“I have a lot [of good memories with Black Stars]. I think all of the games because it’s something special. It’s very important and special to me to defend the national flag. Since my first game in Turkey to my last game in 2017,” he began.
“Why not? I’m still playing and I’m still pushing. I’m doing very well with my club this season. When I came back this season, we were in the relegation zone and we ended up playing the playoffs. I was the one of the best goalkeepers. Why not? I’m ready.”
“I want to use this platform to apologise again about the issue that happened in 2017 and I’ll ask all Ghanaians to forgive me for what happened. I’m sorry to everyone. Yeah [it affected my career] at the national team. You can see that since then, I’ve not been back [with the Black Stars],” he concluded.
Brimah has earned experience in Africa and beyond, winning the South African Premier Division in 2018 with Mamelodi Sundowns.
He most recently won the Segunda Division B best goalkeeper after a string of excellent performances with Linares.
