Dietary supplements around the globe have fast become a growing phenomenon among the current generation with countless companies providing remedies for weight gain, weight loss, boosting the immune system and enhancement of mental and physical strength for sporting activities.
Among these fast-growing dietary supplement, phenomena are the flat tummy tea or slim tea which is believed to give customers a flat tummy without going through the hustle of physical vigorous exercises which is the traditional way to achieve the desired results.
Some vendors say they are living proof of the products, especially not only as retailers but as users of the product, vendors also claim however that the business is a highly profitable one.
“Most of the ladies who walk into my shop purposely come to buy flat tummy tea regardless of the price. The prices ranges from 50 cedis and above.”
“My products are good and people always come to buy. It’s a profitable business.”
Taking to the streets of Sekondi-Takoradi we ask residents what their take on the most patronized dietary supplement and how effective the medicine has been on their part.
” There’s nothing wrong with traditional herbs but I prefer going to the gym to lose weight.”
” I use the slim tea, and it worked for me. I can’t stress myself with workout at the gym.”
However, speaking to a nutritionist, Coach Long story who doubles up as a fitness instructor on the matter says dietary supplements are always not the best solutions to achieve desired body results. He adds that people opt for supplements out of mere laziness.
Rather he states that marrying supplement with fitness is the ideal way to go.
” Most people want the easy way out to gain or lose weight. You can’t take the supplement without exercising, hoping to get the desired result. It takes 80 per cent nutrition, 20 per cent workout,” he said.
