The Municipal Health Directorate of the Effia Kwesimintism Assembly (EKMA) has embarked on a National Immunization Exercise on Covid-19.
The first round of the vaccination started yesterday, June 8 through to June 12, 2022, whilst the second round is at June 24 to June 28, 2022 across the Municipality.
The Municipal Health Director, Madam Joyce Bagina said, eligible persons from fifteen years and above can take the vaccine.
She revealed that health workers would visit communities, schools, and lorry stations amongst others to immunize eligible people.
Madam Bagina noted that the county has not achieved the targeted herd immunity thus entreating everyone to get vaccinated as the country’s COVID cases are resurging.
She indicated ,” It’s only when we get at least 90 per cent that we can have what we call herd immunity, so that when someone comes from anywhere with the infection, the person would not be able to spread it because we are all immunised”
The Director said, the Municipality has not achieved 50 per cent of the target of population vaccinated.
Persons who have taken the first dose and second dose are entreated to get the booster to improve the immune system.
Currently, the country has an active of 396 cases whilst STMA has 11 with EKMA having one case.
