The 2021 Best Woman Farmer in Daboase, Madam Mariam Adwowa Ocran, has said, farmers getting access to soft loans can improve agribusiness.
Speaking with Spice FM, she believes that farmers can produce more when they get to access soft loans from financial institutions.
“I would plead with the appropriate authorities to help farmers get access to soft loans as a way of investing and supporting the business,” she said.
Farmers across the country have often decried the reluctance of banks to invest in their business.
She revealed that interest rate on loans scares her away from acquiring financial help from banks.
Madam Mariam has about 20 acres of palm fruit plantation and rears local poultry on a commercial basis.
Apart from that, Madam Mariam has a gari and oil processing factory to her credit.
She is by far the first woman to venture into a large scale of poultry rearing.
She recounts the economic benefit derived from it as consumers throng her farm to purchase from her.
Advising the youth, she said, “the business can start from a small beginning and with determination they can strive and ripen its benefits.”
