Investors Called On To Invest In The Agric Sector – 2020 National Best Farmer
Mr Solomon Kojo Kusi, the 2020 National Best Farmer, and the 2021 Africa Best Farmer have reached out to investors to invest in the agriculture sector.
He made this call, in an interview with Spice91.9FM as part of its focus on Youth in Agriculture. The Youth in Agriculture is a campaign spearheaded by Spice 91.9 FM which seeks to draw the attention of young people to venture into farming and animal rearing.
Mr Kusi described farming as a serious business for both the educated and non–educated.
For him, Ghanaians got it all wrong when farming and weeding in schools were seen as a punishment which has deterred many from getting into agriculture.
He said,” farming should not be seen as a job for shallow-minded individuals or school drop-outs but a yielding grounds for everyone.”
Mr Kusi further mentioned that Ghana is blessed with the needed resources to boost agriculture production to salvage food crises.
He encouraged the young people who wish to go into agriculture to not to consider the sector as being for ‘poor people,’ and added that people can do farming as a full time and part-time job.
Mr Kusi advised the youth to venture into farming because there is money in it.
Sharing his farming experience with the media, Mr Kusi said, he started with little capital but with determination and strong will, he has Eleven Thousand and Eight Hundred (11,800) timber plantations and cocoa amongst others.
Apart from farming, the 2020 National Best Farmer is also the founder and proprietor of Jesus Never Fails International School, one of the best private basic schools in the Jomoro District with about 600 pupils.
