Delivery service in the country is on the rise, most especially with the introduction of online food services and online small scale businesses.
This has generated decent employment for most people to earn minimum wages. Dispatch riders are notably a significant aspect for these businesses to thrive and reach larger clients afar.
However, as significant as the job appears to be, dispatch riders are faced with challenges that are demeaning to them.
Speaking to Business Daily a dispatch rider laments how private and commercial drivers pay them little to no respect and sometimes can be risky.
” This job is a tough one, we are always exposed to direct sunlight. Sometimes the drivers don’t show any respect to us. One driver nearly knock me into a gutter, the job is really a tough one. You just need to be a little careful.
You may think there is no care either in front or behind by by the time you arrive at a destination, there may be a vehicle driving towards you. Is is a good job, I guess you need to be a little careful” A rider stated.
He has also been speaking about the strong negotiating power of clients which is not good for business sometimes.
“I delivered something and it was 10 cedis and the person demanded reduction”, he added.
