President Appoints Okoe Boye as Acting CEO of NHIA

President Akufo-Addo has appointed former MP for Ledzokuku, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

Dr Okoe Boye replaces the current CEO of the Authority, Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby.

According to a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Honourable Akosua Frema Osei – Opare, stated that his appointment starts on May 3, 2022, and is under Section 14 (1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852).

Dr Okoe Boye lost the Ledzokuku seat in the 2020 Elections after serving one term. It was reported that before the 2020 elections, President Akufo-Addo insisted that he will not reappoint Members of Parliament who failed to retain their seats.

It was therefore not surprising to many when Dr Okoe Boye’s name was excluded from the list of Ministerial Appointees after the 2020 polls, although he served as a Deputy Minister for Health before the elections.

Dr Bernard Okoe Boye has served in various capacities including, Board Chairman of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
