One feared dead in a bloody clash between galamsey rivals in Tarkwa

One person has been confirmed dead with several others injured following clashes between two galamsey groups at Bonsa in the Tarkwa Nsuaem District of the Western Region.

Alhassan, popularly known as Parma believed to be in his mid-thirties was pronounced dead at the hospital from a gunshot wound.

A police report says the two groups were fighting over the ownership of a mining site on Wednesday, March 23.

The police have arrested 4 persons in connection with the clashes pending investigations.

The Tarkwa Divisional Police Commander Chief Sup A. G Kuma speaking to the media said “Yes we can confirm this information. The event took place at Bonsa right at the toll booth, the police rushed to the scene and met one person with serious injuries but was pronounced dead at the hospital.”

Some 4 others who were injured were transferred from the Pentecost Hospital to the Municipal Hospital with one being transferred to the Korle Bu Hospital in Accra due to the severity of the injury.
