Akwaaba Magic is a platform to rejuvenate the movie industry – Channel Head

The Channel Head of Akwaaba Magic, Kennedy Denkyi Apaah has stated that Akwaaba Magic is used as a platform to convey Ghanaian made content in a bid to invigorate the movie industry.

Speaking to Spice 91.9FM after unveiling the first Anniversary of Akwaaba Magic in Takoradi, the Channel Head, Kennedy Denkyi Apaah mentioned that the channel’s primary aim is to promote made in Ghana content.

“After a thorough reflection by the Management of MultiChoice Ghana, it was decided that the Ghana movie industry is of much priority. A platform would be needed to showcase Ghanaian content in culture through movies to revive the industry, “he said.  

Mr Apaah reiterated that it is keen to create a platform like Akwaaba Magic to sell Ghana culture through movies to film watchers and audiences to watch and appreciate the Ghanaian content.

He further indicated that culture amongst other things need to be preserved and thus Akwaaba Magic is the platform needed to make available Ghanaian made stories known to other nationals. He opined” because we fail as a people to showcase our content, we tend to lose it to foreigners.”

Meanwhile, he revealed exciting shows which are yet to be aired on GOTV channel 101 and DSTV channel 150. Amongst such shows include, Inspector Bediako, Date My Family Ghana, Dede Season 2 as well as the showing of World Cup Qualifiers.
