Core of an in-form Ghanaian club must be selected for the local Black Stars – Abeiku Ainooson

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Black Stars defender Samuel Abeiku Ainooson has charged the technical handlers of the Local Black Stars to invite most players from the in -form club(s) in the Ghana Premier League when time is due for their call-ups to make their work easier.

According to the Sekondi Hasaacas captain, if the Local Black Stars call-ups are dominated by the most in-form team in the Ghana Premier League, the telepathy and understanding between those players go a long way to help the team and that was what helped the CHAN team to win a silver medal in South Africa in 2014.

“The trend has being proven to be the way to go because it’s been there that you have about five or 6 players from a specific club as we had about 8 players during our time in 2014 Chan Tournament who all came from Asante Kotoko and we were leading Ghana football as at that time in top form and that gave us lots of understanding which helped us get to the final”

In an exclusive conversation with Spice Fm Centre Sports host, Abaidoo Abednego, the former CHAN finalist added;

“Currently Kotoko is in top shape as well as Bechem United so about five or more outstanding players can be invited out of the core of the team and be blended with some few players from other clubs to form the local Black Stars and that will be very helpful for the Local Black Stars to qualify to the CHAN Tournament and make an impact too”.

The Local Black Stars have failed to qualify for the CHAN tournament in recent times and the head coach Annor Walker and his assistant Prof. Nartey Ogum have been tasked to qualify to the 7th edition of the tournament which will be hosted by Algeria in January 2023.
