The government remains resolute to make Ghana self-reliant despite difficulties posed by Covid-19

President Akuffo-Addo has said, despite the challenges Covid-19 has posed to the country in the last two years his government remains resolute in making Ghana self-reliant. The President stated the government is domesticating appropriate solutions to problems that confront the country.

Speaking in Cape Coast to Climax Ghana 65th Independence Day Celebration, President Akufo Addo said the government is already making significant progress in this direction.

“Simply put there are difficulties everywhere in the world, rising crude oil prices which means rising fuel prices, the rising cost of items on the market. As much as these are happening in all countries around the world, the government of Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has not thrown up his hands in despair. We are not looking for the easy way out, we are determined to become even more self-reliant and in the process find Ghanaian solutions to Ghanaian problems as already we have made considerable progress towards this end”.

President Akufo Addo said Ghana has been positioned for more commerce through the construction of roads.
“We have opened up this country through the construction of roads more than any other government has in the history of the fourth republic”, he said.
President Akufo Addo said through digitalization the government has ensured accelerated growth of the economy.

“Our efforts at digitalisation are improving transparency, accountability and efficiency in the public sector”, he posited.

Being the first time of witnessing an Independence Day parade in the 65 years of its inception, there was never a dull moment at the Cape Coast Stadium which hosted the climax of the Anniversary.

For the hundreds who had converged on the stadium, it was a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of President Akufo Addo.

Well represented in national colours the stadium was filled to capacity.

President Akufo Addo’s convoy was ushered to the event grounds with one of his favourite tunes “Oye”.

Dressed in a white shirt over a black trousers, President Akufo Addo waved to the enthusiastic crowd, who waved their flags to cheer him on.

Christian, Islamic and traditional prayers were offered for God’s protection for leadership and citizens of the country, especially for continued peace in Ghana.
