According to a statement by the Driver’s Union, the hike in fuel prices is having a toll on their businesses hence the supposed increment of 30 percent in transport fares.
In an interview with some drivers at the Anaji Taxi Rank, drivers revealed that the increment of fares has not rolled out yet as they await directives from their leaders.
Bright Essuman, a driver at the Anaji Taxi Rank said, they are maintaining the old fares for now but are hopeful that by the close of the week, the new fares would be released.
“For now, we are charging the old fares because leadership has not authorized us to work with the new fares. Going forward, we believe that the new fares will come out soon,” he said.
Some of the drivers raised issues about the the incessant increase in fuel products.
They however advised on passengers to comply with them as the increment is necessary to shore up the transport sector from collapsing.
