Traders lament low patronage on Valentine’s Day
Traders in gifts and other wares have lamented low patronage in this years’ Valentine’s Day celebration.
Some of them who spoke with Spice 91.9 FM at the Takoradi Market Circle blamed low sales on the occasion falling on a weekday.
Some traders expressed that even though people are patronizing their wares, their customers are mostly males.
They also said, trading started on the eve of the Valentine’s Day where customers thong their shops to purchase boxes of chocolate, amongst other cocoa products.
Naomi, a trader in cocoa products at the Takoradi Market Circle said, “if Valentine had fell on a weekend like last year, sales would have been better Market is somehow good and we would continue to sell our wares till the weekend“.
She also said, last year sales was better than this year’s Valentine’s Day.
Auntie Stella added that “Last year by this time, market was booming with lots of people shopping for different kinds of goods to make their loved ones happy.”
She however attributed low sales to the poor state of the economy.
Valentine’s Day is celebrated annually every February 14 around the world and is associated with love.
