Inmates of Sekondi Central Prisons receive love on Val’s Day
About 650 inmates of the Sekondi Central Prisons, have received donations from the Focus 1 Media, to mark the celebration of Valentine’s Day known in Ghana as the Chocolate Day which falls on February 14.
The donation is part of the company’s acts of showing love and kindness to inmates of the prison and to shore up needs of the prison services.
The donated items were made up of food items, cartons of assorted drinks, slippers, sanitary products like medicated soaps, a television set, orbit fans, boxes of toothpaste amongst others to be shared among the inmates.
The donation, an annual event has seen inmates of the Sekondi Prisons benefit from some items for the past 12 years.
This year’s event was steered by the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Mr Kwame Adu Mante, with backing from Mrs Evelyn Adu – Mante, General Manager, Mr Kojo Amoako Nzoley and escorted by some staff of the company.
In an interview with the CEO, he mentioned that the donations were born out of love to the less privileged thus the gesture to show love to the inmates on the Valentine’s Day.
“Most a times, we tend to forget about the prison inmates who may be in need of our help and encouragement. For this, I together with my team decided to show some love to them in the form of donations. They need love and encouragement to help them in such circumstances,” he said.
The Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Sekondi Central Prisons, DSP Adjetey Cyriano expressed gratitude to the group and said the items would support them in their day to day operation of the prison.
He mentioned that government’s support is meagre and that donations go a long up to shore up the running of the prisons.
“Every Valentine’s Day, we get donations from Focus 1 Media, and with that we are much grateful to the CEO of Focus 1 Media for his good heart in helping inmates of the Prisons for the past twelve years. We can’t thank them enough. God bless their business so that in years to come they can still support us,” he stated.

He however called on well-meaning Ghanaians to emulate such gestures exhibited by the Focus 1 media Group.
Adjetey Cyriano added that Pharmaceutical, beverages sector should come to their aid because government’s effort cannot do much for the welfare of the inmates.
