Omanhene of Aowin Traditional Area calls for local and foreign investors

Omanhene of Aowin Traditional Area, Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III

The Omanhene of Aowin Traditional Area, Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III has called on investors to invest in the economy of the Aowin Trandtional Area.

Enchi, the capital of the Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region which stretches on a 212 kilometres from Sekondi – Takoradi.

The town has been making the headlines recently after the suspended Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Sekondi – Takoradi, Mr. Abdul Mumin threatened a police officer with transfer to the town.

Nana Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbui III in an earlier statement to the development described Enchi as not a typical God forsaken town but a town with peaceful environment, peace loving people and blessed with natural resources.

“In fact, contrary to this uninformed view, Enchi is not your typical God – forsaken town. Mr. Issah might want to confer with people from different parts of the country who have been posted to Enchi to work. I can place it on record, without equivocation, that some people do everything to resist transfer from Enchi because of the peaceful nature of the town, its peace loving people and how welcoming and generous they are!” the statement said.

In a similar development, Nana Beyeeman mentioned in an interview on Spice 91.9 FM that, the town is endowed with natural resources some of which are tapped whilst others are not.

He boasted of a cocoa shed in Tema which is named after ‘Enchi’ signifying the immense contribution of the town to cocoa production in Ghana.

“Aowin is bestowed with gold, timber, rubber plantation amongst other natural resources. The only timber reserve in Ghana can be found in Aowin”, he said.

He was however concerned about the timber and cocoa production, where there is no single factory to process the raw materials into semi – finished and finished products.

“Most of the cocoa are lost as a result of post-harvest losses which affect the country’s economy in diverse ways,” he stated.

He bemoaned how residents have to travel as far as Kumasi and other neighboring towns to purchase wood for construction works.

He however called on local and foreign investors to invest in the rich land of Enchi because there are opportunities in terms of human and natural resources and investors can maximise their investment.
