The Youth of Appiatse has discredited claims that relief items donated to victims of Appiatse has been diverted for personal gains by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Assembly man and other members of the committee set up to steer affairs of embattled victims of an explosion which occurred on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Appiatse, a community located between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region was razed down when a vehicle carrying mining explosives collided with a tricycle, thus resulted in an explosion, killing many and leaving others with various degree of injuries.

Addressing a press conference today, February 7, 2022 at the Appiaste Relief Camp, Pastor Derrick Eshun, a member of the relief committee and a native of Appiaste stated that, items donated to victims are distributed evenly without any biases.

According to him, there has been false news involving the Municipal Chief Executive Isaac Dasmani who was reported to have diverted some of the items for his benefits.

“The relief items are received by the NADMO coordinators who together with the committee share them equally. It is never true that the MCE or other members of the committee are taking advantage of donations received to enrich themselves. The committee is rather helping to ensure equal supply of items amongst us, “he said.

Mr. Eshun, further challenged those who are peddling false news about MCE Isaac Dasmani to produce proof of evidence against him for funds diversion amongst other claims.

He urged benevolent organizations to disregard false news about donations presented to victims of Appiatse Explosion.
