Trading Activities Takes a Nose Dive after Festivity Celebrations.


Business activities in and around the Takoradi New Market in the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis is experiencing a nosedive after making good sales during the Christmas seasons.


A number of traders in an interview with Spice FM, stated that sales low sales are being recorded following the aftermath of the festivities.


They believe that, the New Year comes with its own challenges and fortunes but are hopeful that sales would improve in the coming months.


Madam Patricia Owuradu, a trader at the Takoradi New Market, explained that in marketing, there are highs and low where one can make good sales as well as bad sales depending on the season.


She reveals that she made good sales in the December but hoped for the better in subsequent months.
Mr. Samuel, a shop attendant said, “The start of the year has not been good for us at all.

We have recorded low sales since the beginning of the year. Few people walk into the shop to purchase goods. Sometimes we don’t sell anything at all.”


On the contrary, sellers of school uniforms, bags and foot wears mentioned that they are seeing a significant improvement in sales since announcement were made that schools are to resume on Monday.
Madam Rebecca who sells school uniforms said, “since the government announcement on the reopening of schools, people have been coming to buy materials to sew for their wards. It is a good sign for me.”
For Madam Juliana who sells school bags, she is positive of raking in more profits since school is reopening soon.
“During the latter part of last year, I didn’t really make enough sales but I hope to make more sales this year because of the reopening of schools next year.” She said.
