At least thirteen (13) persons have died in a head-on collision involving a Sprinter bus and a Metro Mass Transit Bus at Anwhiaso in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
Twelve of them died on the spot while the other died shortly on arrival at the Anwhiaso community hospital.
The dead include the driver of the sprinter bus and his wife.
Twenty others, who sustained various degrees of injuries, are receiving treatment at the Anwhiaso community hospital and Bibiani Government hospital respectively.
Five of the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Anwhiaso community hospital and eight at the Bibiani Government hospital.
All the deceased were in the sprinter bus with the registration number (AS 1813-19) which was carrying passengers from Sefwi-Wiawso to Kumasi.
ASP Emmanuel Osei, MTTD Commander, in his address to the media indicated that, the accident happened around 1045 hours on Monday morning.
He said on reaching Anwhiaso, the driver of the Sprinter bus attempted to overtake a tricycle on top speed and run into the oncoming Metro Mass Bus with the registration number (AS 7123), which was travelling from Kumasi to Sefwi-Wiawso of the Western North Region.
