The yuletide has begun, Christmas is a few days away and the traders at the Takoradi Central Business District (CBD) are gearing up for the occasion.
A visit to the market by Spice Fm’s Chief Reporter saw many traders displaying new items for sale and along all the streets surrounding the market, traffic was intense with vehicles and pedestrians occupying the available spaces.
Many consumers also thronged the market with their children to patronize the wide array of goods on display and as they went round shopping for their Christmas needs.
There were also itinerant traders who ply their trades in vehicles, marketing their merchants through megaphones and heavy speakers attached to the vehicles.
In an interview with one of them, Mrs Doris Plange, an egg trader in the market, said although sales have been better than previous months, they were yet to see how things would turn to be in the ensuing weeks.
Other traders also agreed to the assertion made by Mrs Plange but expressed the optimism that sales will improve as “we get closer to the Christmas Day and the New Year proper”.
