The Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital (ENRH) in the Western Region has held its maiden stakeholder engagement to advance the quality of its health service and to showcase both old and new services that many do not know about.
Among the services served on the occasion include blood donation with free waakye, free bouncy castle and children’s playground, free medical consultation for those without Health Insurance, access to some parts of the hospital like the children’s ward, diagnostic centre, CT scan centre, Public health lab, etc and sale of products from other Pharmaceutical and Insurance companies.
There were sales of souvenirs from the event at a cool price, sale of natural fruit juices, popcorn, Ice cream, kebabs among others as well as the department by department health education talks, diagnostics, career guidance and screening with some interesting activities.
Dr Nana Esi Gaisie, Chairperson of the Planning Committee in an address said there was no better time such as this, when the world was marking the Universal Health Access Day under the theme, “Leave no one’s health behind: invest in health systems for all.”
The theme, she said calls upon us to do what was socially just in order not to neglect the health of certain members of society because of their age, biological sex, ethnicity, ability/ disability, religious beliefs or socioeconomic status.
“On a day like this, we have dismantled all the barriers that do not enable some people in our society to reach out and get their health checked, by arranging to have a free screening of nearly every part of the body possible, and offering medical consultation to those who do not have health insurance”, she stated.
She explained that the event seeks to enable the whole management team and other members of staff present to interact with the general public and to deal satisfactorily with questions and grievances of the members of the public.
Dr Gaisie said despite the fact that many lives and livelihoods were hard hit by the pandemic, she was overwhelmed by the massive support they received in cash and kind by various corporate bodies and individuals to make the activities and services lined up possible.
“We see your magnanimity and willingness to support this Open Day as a vote of confidence in our potential possibilities and we don’t take this lightly at all. The idea of this Open Day will surely birth the kind of hospital that we all desire because we can only win and win well when we come together like this, and contribute what we each have generously for the common good and interest”, she added.
She contended that the hospital serves the interest of all as its the only biggest hospital and referral centre in the region and whether it thrives or not (and it will thrive by God’s grace), depended on everyone’s contribution.
