Abandoned Vehicle At UCC First Gate Claims Driver’s Life
A driver who plies the Accra – Takoradi Highways has met his untimely death on the dawn of Sunday, December 5, 2021.
Narrating the incident on Spice Fm, Mr.Kweku Boateng , a driver and colleague of the deceased at the Accra Station disclosed that the unfortunate accident occurred as a result of a broken down articulator truck left unattended to by the appropriate authorities. The incident according to Mr. Boateng happened at 5 am in the morning.
The drivers blamed the National Road Safety Commission for such occurances saying that it has not been up to task. They stated that the towing services in the country are not up and doing.
Mr. Boateng also blamed some private truck owned by Chinese companies to be the culprit in such situations citing that they overload vehicles with clay used in making floor tiles at Eshiem.
With some few weeks into the Yuletide, drivers have been cautioned to exercise patience and exhibit professionalism on the road to reduce road carnages on our roads.
Mr. Boateng also stated that the situation is no11t different in the inner cities where vehicles are abandoned on vantage points on the streets which could cause accident. Safety triangles are however not used to caution oncoming vehicles which at the long run causes accidents.
The drivers appealed with the authorities to ensure that drivers obey traffic regulations in order to enjoy the season without any form of unfortunate incidents on the roads.
